The highlight of the extensive series of events organized by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) for "Disability Week" took place at military barracks; under the "One-Day Symbolic Military Service" program conducted in cooperation with the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), 120 individuals with special needs donned uniforms and took the military oath. A total of 4,412 individuals with special needs and their families participated in the sports and arts festivities held across Istanbul throughout the week.
An Unforgettable Day at the Barracks: 120 Special Soldiers Take the Oath
As part of the program, 120 individuals with special needs—aged 20 and older—donned military uniforms with great excitement to symbolically fulfill their patriotic duty. During the events held at the Eyüpsultan 3rd Corps Command (MEBS Regiment Command) and the Maltepe Kenan Evren Barracks (Supply and Finance School and Training Center Command), these special soldiers participated in basic military training and exercises throughout the day. At the official oath-taking ceremony following the training, they recited the military oath alongside their fellow soldiers, experiencing a sense of pride they would cherish for a lifetime.
